New Year’s Eve on Times Square

The tradition to celebrate New Year’s Eve began in Times Square, New York City in 1904. The New Year’s Eve Ball has been lowered every year since 1907, except 1942 and 1943. This color photograph shows how New Yorkers and guests of New York City celebrate New Year’s Eve 2004-2005. Special guest who had activated the ball drop at midnight was Secretary of State Colin Powell. So many happy people, fireworks and music show, make this event unforgettable.
